The Hon. Justice Dahiru Musdapher, (GCON)

Justice Dahiru Musdapher was born on July 14, 1942 at Babura town in Jigawa State. He attended University of London School of African Studies and thereafter, enrolled at the Inns of Court just as he was called to English Bar in 1967. He later attended the Nigerian Law School and was called to the Nigeria Bar in 1968, the same year with Katsina- Alu, UmaruAbdullahi and Salami.

Between 1968 and 1976, Musdapher had a successful private practice before he was appointed the Attorney- General and Commissioner for Justice in Kaduna State where he served from 1976 to 1979.

In 1979, he was appointed the Chief Judge of Kano State High Court and served in that capacity till 1985 when he was elevated to the Court of Appeal. He was appointed Justice of the Supreme Court in 2003.

Musdapher, will attain the mandatory retirement age of 70 years on July 14, 2012. If the normal tradition of appointing the most senior Judge of the apex court as the CJN, following the retirement of the incumbent is anything to go by next year, then Musdapher will be succeeded by Justice Mariam Aloma Mukhtar, who will become the first female CJN in the country.
